Description

This Portreath placemat depicts one of north cornwall’s most dramatic waves.

The barreling lefthander which grinds down the harbour wall draws surfers and bodyboarders from miles around.

Portreath itself is a small resort located about 5 miles north of Redruth. The narrow harbour, once used for importing coal and exporting copper, now offers shelter for small fishing boats.

The distinctive “Pepperpot” has been utilized as an early form of lighthouse and as a “Huer’s hut” or fisherman’s  lookout.

With its pretty, sandy beach, shops, cafés and holiday accommodation Portreath village has a very friendly atmosphere and caters for most needs of tourists, whilst not being over-commercialised.

Some of the old tram-roads, used for transporting ore from the mines, have been converted to cycle paths and it is now possible to cycle from Portreath on the north coast to Devoran on the south coast.

Our Portreath placemat will enhance any dining table experience. Why not pair it with one of our matching Portreath coasters?
